<p>Most people get to Ambergris Caye by taking a 15 minute flight from Belize City.  A water taxi is also available for those who prefer not to fly.  The main town is called San Pedro and comprises 4 main streets packed with cafes, bars, restaurants, a charming oceanfront church and dozens of dive shops.  The main form of transport is by golf cart, although to get to some of the more secluded resorts and real estate developments north and south of town, a boat trip is your best bet.</p>

<p>The government recognizes the attraction of Ambergris Caye for both tourists and real estate investors and is improving the infrastructure and services.  The main streets in San Pedro and the road to the south have recently been paved and electricity is being drawn west from San Pedro towards the Caye Winds area.</p>
<p>Every time we visit, the whispers about major hospitality brands launching projects on Ambergris Caye get louder.  But for now, the island still flies under the radar.  If you&#8217;re looking for a classic Caribbean retreat, Ambergris Caye is an area that offers a great deal of potential.</p>
